Oyo State Sets To Slash Political Appointees Salaries By 50%

Senior political appointees in Oyo State are to expect a 50% decrease in their salaries as announced by the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.
This announcement was made On May 1st at the Worker’s Day summit organized at the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Secretariat in Ibadan. The Governor also affirmed that the lawmakers, comprising the Members of the State House of Representatives will also experience a 30% cutback in their salaries.
 Makinde explained that these changes have been put in place in order to reduce the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the state’s economy. However, he assured that salaries would still be paid regularly on the 25th of every month.
