Gov. Akeredolu Appoints Commander For Amotekun Operatives In Ondo

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has appointed a Commander for the Ondo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps.

Akeredolu, who announced Chief Adetunji Olu Adeleye as the Corps Commander, on Wednesday, stated that the appointment takes immediate effect.

The appointment of Adeleye was disclosed via a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Segun Ajiboye.

Recall that on March 4, 2020, the bill for the establishment of the Ondo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps was signed into law the governor.

The bill had received the governor’s nod following the earlier its earlier passage into law by the state legislature.

While emphasizing that the security outfit will not be allowed for political activities in the state, Akeredolu had maintained that Amotekun was established solely for the security of lawful residents within the six southwest states.

He reiterated that the Amotekun Corps shall be complementary and not independent of the operations and efforts of the nation’s security agencies.
