Popular Nigerian Reggea Legend, Majek Fashek Is Dead

Popular Nigerian music icon, Makek Fashek also known as Majekodunmi Fasheke has passed on. The 80s reggae singer has been battling some form of ill health for the past 4 years and has been transported to various parts of the world including London for treatment. The news of Majek Fashek's death was first broken by his long term manager, Umenka Uzoma Day who wrote:

“Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker.”

“Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified.”


Majek Fashek was notably known for his role in taking Nigerian music global and being featured on American national television in the 80s. Some of his hit songs include - rain maker  and blessings. May Majek's gentle soul rest in peace.
