A friend of mine was scheduled to meet her would-be mother-in-law for the first time, but as the day drew near she became uneasy. She called me and said, 'BB I have some butterflies in my stomach as time draws near'......I was wondering why she was developing cold feet about the visit. So am asking, what is the big deal about the first meeting with would-be mother-in-laws? What is in that visit self?...............is there any kind of preparation needed and why?.........why are some ladies apprehensive about meeting with their would-be mother-in-laws?..........Lets share some ideas here......Thanks!

double minded, scared, unacceptance, no welcoming welcome
and on the other hand, the reverse is d case
so visiting would-be-mother-inlaw, one needs to prepare her mind for either acceptance or not

Exactly! It's known that many mothers of guys think that nobody is good enough for their''little boy'', so it's normal to be nervous when u have to meet her for the first time!

Could this be termed over protectiveness on the part of the mother or is it just that the guys are still tied to their mothers' apron strings?

It may be both! And unfortunately, I know many cases where the girls are really great, but their mothers in law don't like them, not even after years of marriage! So you can imagine what tension is there!

she might have some skeleton in her cupboard which is afraid of cause they say clear conscience fears no accusation tell her to search herself
i dont agree with this, u ar a guy so u wont actually understand. some mother's in law are hard to please...
i keep asking this, if you find out that ur would-be-mother-in-law doesnt like you, will u go ahead with the marriage?
Big question............and we really need to sit down and ponder on this...........we know some mothers have succeeded in breaking their sons' marriages all becos they dont like the ladies they married!
