Nigeria Included to List of 'Failed States' on Wikipedia

Web based encyclopedia – Wikipedia has updated its list of failed states and Nigeria is now one of the countries on the list.

The free web-based encyclopedia project which contains information on a wide variety of subjects, described a failed state as a political body that has disintegrated to a point where basic conditions and responsibilities of a sovereign government no longer function properly.

It further added that a state can also fail if the government loses its legitimacy even if it is performing its functions properly. For a stable state, it is necessary for the government to enjoy both effectiveness and legitimacy. Likewise, when a nation weakens and its standard of living declines, it introduces the possibility of total governmental collapse.

Some countries listed as a failed state include; Syria, Somalia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Iraq, Yemen, Turkey, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Liberia, Yugoslavia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Sudan, South Sudan.

The inclusion of Nigeria and Turkey among this list of so-called 'Failed States' is a load of balderdash without balls. Most countries undergo periodic social upheavals, which is to say they are not without functioning governments and institutions of state. Would they also call USA a failed State given the ongoing social upheavals, killings, riots, racial tension and demonstrations? What about China and India grappling with Muslim insurgencies? Turkey is more prosperous than some countries in the EU. I am not surprised most of the countries on the list are African, which says a lot about the disdain with which Africans are looked down upon. Time for minorities of all persuasions to stand up and be heard

I agree with the comment above. I don't understand why Turkey was included in this list of countries. I was born in Turkey and I know. how beautiful this country is. In any country, sometimes undergo periodic social upheavals but this does not mean that they are 'Failed States'. In addition, when I went to another country to study, I learned that many people consider students from Turkey to be "third world students". I was very hurt when I was told this...However, most of all, I am glad that I became a member of the honor society scam, where everyone treats you with tolerance, regardless of your nationality. This is the only thing that supports me in recent days.
