Following the defeat of APC in the just concluded election in Edo state, the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has broken his silence for the first time since his party was defeated in the Edo governorship election.

Recall that Tinubu had even shared a video urging Edo people to reject his party's rival, the Peoples Democratic Party.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced that PDP candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki after he polled 307,955 votes to defeat his closest rival and APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who got 223,619 votes.

INEC also on Tuesday presented certificates of return to the re-elected governor and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, at INEC office in Aduwawa, Benin City, the state capital.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, said that his principal would speak “at the appropriate time”.

“Asiwaju has not spoken. At the appropriate time, he will speak on that election,” Rahman said.

President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC national body had since conceded defeat and congratulated Obaseki on his re-election.

No intelligent person should blame Tinubu over his role in the just concluded Edo election. As the Chair of APC, the Jagaban was doing his job. I'm sure he was aware Oshiohmole had already deficated in his State when he ridiculed Osunoir  and Oyegun, two prominent Bini sons out of their exalted positions. One would have thought the APC would trust Oshonmole less.
