President Muhammadu Buhari has asked parents and guardians not to encourage their children and wards to partake in the nationwide looting and destruction of property.
This was disclosed in a statement by the media aide to the president, Garba Shehu on Sunday. The president also urged the police and other security agencies to restore calm and normalcy as quickly as possible.

“A government that has launched a massive crackdown on corruption, brought in strong laws for a decisive battle against corruption, pursues loot recovery at home and abroad, and taken strong decisions against those who thought they were above the law, will not fold its arms when an otherwise legitimate and peaceful protest is turning into free-for-all vandalism and looting.

While the administration has, for its part, blocked so many means of looting public money in a war against corruption, it is the expectation that all civil authorities, community and religious leaders in the country must rise against the organised looting and plunder we are witnessing in parts of the country.

Families must turn back children who bring home unaccounted goods, in the same way wives must ask their husbands to return looted items brought home.”
The president said the incidents of vandalism and looting do not reflect well on the country’s image and should not be supported by reasonable members of the society.

My belief is that the President is referring to TV, Stereos, Lamps and other decorative items. If the family is starving and the child comes home with a bag of rice, gallon of cooking oil, Carton of Income and tubers of yam, I wonder which father will turn back that child. Since these are parts of the palliatives that should have been shared in the first place. The Governors need to be held accountable. What were they hoarding the food for? People are starving, and they are hoarding the food items.

Oh really ! I was expecting old man to extend the looting spree for the youths. But to my amazement the old man is threatening the poor and impoverished youths to return their fundamental rightful belongings that was taken away and stolen from them by evil politicians .In fact , If Mr.Buhari would act as the disciplinarian he was known to be, I would have expected him to tell politicians open your doors wide open for the boys to come recover their loots of many decades .I would have expected Honorable Buhari to act in kind in similar tone with Nigerian politicians by ordering their families to reject their husband who have stolen public funds in the past or their children to tell their father to return those billions stocked in their domestic and foreign accounts .In fact , I would have applauded Buhari if he can say the same to the families ,children, wives and friends of all Nigerian politician to reject their stolen wealth or to report their stolen wealth to law enforcement officials, if Mr.President failed in extending this similar toughness to politicians in kind then I believe this nation shouldn’t have peace until these old men’s truly admit their guilt

if the leadership of our country want the youth to return the looted items, they have to lead my example. They have return the Billion of Dollars they have looted from the states and national treasures, beginning with the 2.8 billion naira of national railway company looted in 1978, and much more.
