President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly reopened Nigeria’s land borders for Dangote Cement to export its products across other West African countries.
According to Bloomberg, Dangote Group’s chief executive officer, Michel Puchercos, confirmed on Monday that the company will now be able to export cement to Togo and Niger following “an authorisation given by this administration.”

It was unclear why President Buhari singled Dangote Group for a special waiver that would allow the conglomerate transport its products across the Nigerian land borders, which have been shut since August last year.

Buhari’s government argued that the closure, which left thousands stranded because it was not announced prior to implementation, was designed to curb smuggling, boost local production and consumption of home-grown products.
Although the blockade encouraged the consumption of locally grown produce such as rice, it hurt factories across West Africa, which rely on Nigeria’s market of 200 million people.

The government carried out the policy despite criticism from other West African countries whose leaders said Nigeria’s action undermined the spirit of the newly-signed continental free trade agreement.

In its report on Monday, Bloomberg said Dangote’s waiver could open the way for other bushinesses to fully resume exports across Nigeria’s land barriers, although this was not immediately confirmed by any government official.

Recall that Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo had also assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is working towards reopening all the various land borders in the country.

The high cost of sales of products in markets now is very alarming, how can you close borders when other countries sell on a cheap whole sale price to product consumers, but you own country you are closing borders for so that it will boost local productions and economical growth is being wicked to themselves by selling products on a very high cost sales....For example a bag of rice is 35-38k naira,a sachet tomato which is sold before for 50 naira is now 120-150 naira, indomie super pack which is sold before for 80 naira is now sold 120  naira just one pack .......And so many other things.....The buhari administration is the Worst clueless useless senseless kind of government that has ever happened to that failed country called Nigeria, now how can he only allow dangote to do export to other countries while his own country lacks productions and suffering from high cost of sales..... Impostor president

Don,t the southern politician part of the government? is APC not own by Tinubu ? don,t we have senator and Rep in assembly? Is the VP not a southerner? don,t we have governors in the south?  They all chose to be silent because they are benefiting at the expense of majority of us. they refuse to stop buhari policies, i cannot be blaming Buhari on daily bases anymore. our people sold us out. see how they kept the palliative to themselves and many northern Governors give theirs to there people.
