Nicki Minaj directed a well-timed shade at the organisers of the Grammys following its release of the 2021 nomination list.

The rapper and new mum who recently celebrated the tenth year anniversary of her debut album – Pink Friday, called out the recording academy for robbing her of the Best New Artist 8 years ago, award despite doing the numbers.

Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to call out the organisers referring back to 2012 when she lost to Bon Iver in that category even though she had ‘7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard and bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade”.

She implied that the Grammys organisers have been regularly getting things wrong and a bit racist since Bon Iver who was picked over her is a white man.

Quote
“Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on Billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade—went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver. #PinkFriday”, she tweeted.
