President Goodluck Jonathan has been advised to respect the constitution of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as all agreements entered by members of the party and drop his 2011 presidential ambition before it would be too late for him after he must have suffered to defeat at party’s primaries.

The advice was given by the campaign organization of the former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Turaki Vanguard, just as he has been described as the most prepared and determined for the 2011 presidential race among all the aspirants under the ruling PDP, a development that is said to give him an edge over every other person.

This, according to the Turaki Vanguard, was also a pointer that at the end of the party primaries, he would emerge the flag bearer of the party. This was the consensus of the North-east zonal coordinators of the Turaki Vanguard at the end of their meeting held in Bauchi yesterday with a call on the people of the zone, particularly the delegates that would vote during the party primaries, to ensure they voted for the aspiration of the former vice president.

Addressing the meeting, the National Coordinator of the Turaki Vanguard, Fabiyi A. Oladimeji said records available have shown that in the political history of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar remained the most investigated public office holder who was yet not found wanting in any of the allegations levelled against him, a feat he said qualified him to be the next president of the country if it must develop in all ramifications.

He added that coupled with the fact that Atiku Abubakar hails from the northern part of the country, he should be allowed to be the president because, according to him, “the history of Nigeria is a unique one. It is important to remind ourselves that the North is one and Nigeria indeed is one and it shall remain. Atiku Abubakar has been quite a force in the success story of the unity of this country. He has played significant role in the unity, peace and stability of this country; he has not only supported the aspiration or candidature of past leaders of this country but has struggled to ensure that democracy survives in Nigeria.”

The national coordinator of the Turaki Vanguard added that, “Atiku should be commended and treated as a hero for his patriotism and dedication to Nigeria’s greatness. As son of this zone, Atiku requests for your total support in all the coming elections. If other zones of this country could find Atiku worthy of their support, the North-east zone is expected to take the lead in ensuring that he emerges victorious.”

In his own remarks, Bauchi State Coordinator of the Turaki Vanguard, Danlami Garba, assured they would do all in their abilities in the six states that make up the zone to ensure that Atiku Abubakar clinched the ticket of the party during the party primaries anytime it was held.
