Hov came calling & Sade said NO…To a collaboration that is. Jay-Z is one of the greatest Hip-Hop icons EVER, but that didn’t convince Sade to duet with him. In a recent LA Times interview the Nigerian-British songstress also admitted to turning down collab or sample requests from other prominent rappers like Drake and Kanye West.

She tells writer Nelson George;

I’m too scared. They’ll find me out. It’s likeThe Wizard of Oz. They’ll find out there’s nothing there. As for collaborations, I’m collaborating with the band and do what we do. I see myself as a member of this band who does these songs that we write.

Sade definitely doesn’t need a Jay/Kanye collabo to enhance her career…the chick (and her band) release ONE album a decade…and it always goes multi platinum leaving fans the world over wanting for more!

In my opinion the excuse she’s given the LA Times interviewer is just her being humble. Clearly she’s happier living the quiet life on the rolling hills of the English countryside…while sitting on her £40 million fortune of course!

The interview also touches on her relationship with her father, the long gaps between album releases & touring again.
