The Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) have threatened to embark on a three-day protest on Jan. 12, 2021.

Universities in the country have been shut down for 9 months due to ASUU strike, and this new strike threatens the proposed January 18th resumption.

The unions in a circular jointly issued on Sunday in Abuja under the aegis of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) said that the planned strike was to protest the non-implementation of an agreement reached with the Federal Government.

According to the statement, the issues for which the Memorandum of Agreement were entered into include inconsistencies in IPPIS payments, non-payment of Earned Allowances, non-payment of arrears in minimum wage.

Other issues are: neglect and poor funding of state universities and non-constitution of visitation panels for universities.

University management staffs in Nigeria are so wicked for they never wanted to reopen the schools again. So many crazy groups running in disguised in such setting. Why can't they become one body to negotiate easily with the government so this institution can go back to normal. In fact, these people should just resign if felt tired to function and allow fresh employee to come in and fix the problem. Why should these useless staffs getting paid for keeping the students redundant?
