Nigerian Soldier, Azunna Maduabuchi To Die By Firing Squad For Killing Senior Officer

A Trooper identified as Azunna Maduabuchi has been sentenced to death by firing squad for killing the adjutant of his unit, one Lieutenant Babakaka Ngorgi.
The soldier who sat before a court-martial in Maiduguri, Borno State capital was arraigned for shooting Lieutenant Ngorgi in July 2020 at close range in Bama Local Government of Borno State for refusing to grant him a welfare pass.
He was found guilty at the court session held at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri on Tuesday January 12.
Four other soldiers who were arraigned for manslaughter, were also sentenced to various years of imprisonment. Sergeant Sani Ishaya was sentenced to four years, while Bidemi Fabiyi got two years.
Private Musa Bala and Private Abdulraheed Adamu also got one-year imprisonment each.

  The judgement need a fair hearing. There must a reason for the pass, besides, he has the right to go for a pass. For him to shoot the officer was out of anger management, which should have been a manslaughter case rather than dead  sentence. There is always  procedural bias in any court marshal involving commissioned an non-commissioned officers in the military, the case need to be revisited.

Pass or no pass, is not an enough reason to commit murder. He is just an evil soldier. It would have been better to keep asking for the Pass with more serious reasons or use other senior officers to beg for the Pass. He killed him, the Pass he didn't get, his planned trip  never happened, he was detained and now to die by by firing squad. Is he not foolish?
