Is visiting Nigeria dangerous for Polish woman? (Page 5)

what has happened here is more-or-less like a big misunderstanding, let me dissect it for you: Because of the VERY few Nigerians abroad giving us bad names, a lot of foreigners think badly of us and they generally preconceive us as bad which in turn as triggered Nigerians to preconceive foreigners as judgemental even when they are genuinely not. My points

1) Nigeria has its problem and apart from certain areas that may be dangerous most places are peaceful and Ibadan is a particularly peaceful place.

2) Truthfully, as you said, there is the issue of robbers and people thinking you're rich and wanting to take advantage of you or rob you which is quite dangerous too but if your Husband is a true Nigerian/Ibadan boy this shouldn't be a problem. I say this because, he should know the right places to take you, where to go and not to go, right time to go, how to go about things without attracting attention and all of that.

3) If you don't trust your husband and think he might be lying then he probably is or you're just an impatient lady. You must be careful about this cos trust is important. To be safe and enjoy Nigeria you need a lot of things like money, careful planning etc, can your guy afford this, is he busy most of the time and all and have you considered all this (or are you just selfish). On the other hand, do you trust him enough cos he truly may be HIDING something (like a wife in Nigeria like people have said....lol).

4) You cannot judge by comments on this post because it seems to be an unfortunate misunderstanding caused by preconception from both ends. Nigerians are generally nice and welcoming. But one thing you must learn from this post is to be careful how you pose questions next time (in such sensitive scenarios) so as not to trigger....you know.

5) Lastly, to get the best picture about Nigeria, talk to Nigerians. There are loads every where (including Poland) and you must know a few other than your husband.

You could have easily found out from the Nigerian Embassy in Poland instead of exposing the mistrust that existed between you and your husband/boyfriend on a public forum. Given this mistrust, I wonder if that relationship is not doomed? Guys are angry because your post suggests Nigeria is living in the dark age with wild half naked men and women on the prowl. Funny enough you said you were aware polish girls had been to 9Ja and had enjoyed their stay. Why didn't you ask them or some of your husband's friends? Given his apparent hermit life, perhaps he has no friends? The guy is definitely taking you 4 a ride of your life.

I think its better you listen to your husband. Because if i was to return to Nigeria today and people know they might think i have money and decide to come rob me not knowing i have nothing.....there so many scary stories i've heard and people being robbed after returning home. But then again the decision is yours.

I see no harm in your post personally and would say just use precaution while traveling there. I was born and raised in the United States but my family is Nigerian and sadly its dangerous in general. I would say by all means go, but just be generally careful. Do your best to travel amongst people that you are familiar with and keep your personal belongings plus those that are most valuable in very safe keeping. Its sad that the country is in some of the conditions you find but of course..like all places, its a work in progress. My parents never sent me because of how different it is from when they grew up which is sad because of all of the things I'd missed out on..but I finally went now that I am an adult and had fun for the most part. So my tidbit to you would be go, just be super careful! I hope you get to go and have fun!

Hey , who cares if you born in america or not . Do you think that people will call you american or treat you like american , even common african american will call you african or immigrant. maybe your parent didn't make it there that is why shme can't let them come home and they use the excuse that nigeria dangerous. i was born in nigeria but i live in australia but i always proud to be Nigerian bcos no place be like home and people love and respect me in Nigeria. chaiiiiiiiii see insults every where...... is it a crime that she ask question? she ask the question bc of what her husband has been telling her which she hope that she will get good answers and good advice from u guys as brothers and sisters, but only to receive insults...... we need to act maturity in some areas not only show our bad side on social site....... bc i did not see anything wrong 4 her post, bc we all know many bad things that is happening in our country up till date.... kidnapping,stilling,killing and many more......... yes we all know is like that in other countries even worse than Nigeria but that no mean we will not give her good information,answers and advice she needed, than to insult her which is very bad........
