The Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group, NDMG, have commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the nomination of ex-Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd) and other Service Chiefs as non-career ambassadors.

NDMG said the nomination of Buratai and other ex-Service Chiefs as diplomats would terminate the reign of Boko Haram in Nigeria.

Buhari had forwarded the nomination of some ex-Service Chiefs to the senate as ambassador-designates.

However, a statement by its Secretary-General, Raymond Egule said with the experience of Buratai and ex-Service Chiefs as diplomats, the reign of Boko Haram will come to an end in Nigeria.

Egule noted that the nomination of Buratai would boost multi-national coalition against terrorism.

The group called on the federal government to post the ambassador-designates to countries like the United States of America, United Kingdom, Russia and France.

NDMG explained that posting Buratai to the above countries would help Nigeria and other nations benefit immensely from their wealth of experiences and passionate dedication to securing Nigeria against destabilizing influences.

According to Egule, “Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group (NDMG) are elated at President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of all immediate past military chiefs of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as ambassadors designate.

“Their appointments are affirmation that Nigeria continues to cherish hard work, diligence and dedication to the fatherland while validating the axiom that the reward for hard work is more work.

“NDMG is especially pleased that retired General Buratai’s nomination for the ambassadorial position will boost multi-national coalition against terrorism as we envisage that he will continue the war he had waged against terrorists on a higher plane by leveraging his new appointment to starve Boko Haram, ISWAP.”
