The Federal Government is targeting that at least 30 percent of passenger vehicles in Nigeria will be electric cars by 2025.

Speaking at the unveiling of Nigerias first electric car in Abuja on Friday, the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Jelani Aliyu, said the electric cars have come to stay.

Aliyu said Nigeria would not be left out in the transition from fuel-powered vehicles to electric cars. He said the Federal Government has invested about $1 billion in the auto industry in Nigeria as at 2019.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, said electric cars would lead to reduction in fuel consumption and environmental degradation. He said the Trade Ministry has been working with NADDC to review the automotive policy to further strengthen the automotive industry in Nigeria.

Thank you bro ! A country that hasn’t done no innovation on building the 1800 locomotive engines or the Stone Age of king pharaoh chariots, is here helping the developed nation abandoning the fossils engines automobiles.Nigerian are so stupid and this mumu set of government we have in circulation for years have no future objectives. We are oil producers and our major source of foreign reserves is over 70% dependent on oil ,and we here helping the west to promote electric cars or hybrid engines that will result in reduction of our oil demand globally .If the entire world make good on their effort to reduce fossil fuel then Nigeria oil will be begging for buyer at the lowest prices .Stupid fagot ass country , instead of them opening doors for more fossil engine powered engines to help support oil output they doing the opposite.Una Mumu too much

So if it's TRUE what are we doing towards safeguarding that we don't let our economy down?
Because price of crude oil will drop; business related to petrol will suffer. So what are we doing?
