A former deputy governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarunmi, has advised the state Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, to bury his dream of winning the 2011 election.

He said the governor would leave the Government House quietly at the expiration of his first term next year.

Gbolarunmi, who is also a Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship aspirant in the state made the remarks while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, on Wednesday.

Alleging that the governor had offended people from nearly all sectors in the state, the ex-deputy governor argued that fielding such a candidate would be a risk to any serious political party.

He said it was unfortunate that Alao- Akala in the last three years has succeeded in offending prominent citizens of the state such as like the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi; the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odugade; and the Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi, and many labour unions.

He said, “I can assure you that Governor Alao-Akala will leave Oyo State Government House quietly. There is no way for him to came back to office in 2011, you just wait and see.

“He cannot hold the Adedibu political empire. Tell me who among the notable members of the Adedibu political empire who are still in his camp, even his so-called chairman, political camp is cracking.”

He claimed the governor had destroyed the Adedibu political structure that brought him to limelight.

Accusing the governor of accepting only 20 per cent of the followers of the late politician in the appointment of political office, holders in the state, Gbolarunmi said this was tantamount to gross betrayal of the his former benefactor.

He, therefore, told Akala not to waste time campaigning for reelection as no previous governor had ever broken the second term jinx.

But in his response, the governor’s Special Adviser on Public Communication, Mr. Dotun Oyelade, said Gbolarumi’s comment were statistically and constitutionally wrong.

Oyelade warned the former deputy governor who he claimed his only qualification is being an Ibadan man, not to insult the people of the state.

“Akala will run and win with the votes of the entire people in the state who are proud of his achievements,” he declared.

That animal must be voted out of office, but Gbolarumi is definitely not the right candidate
