Pastor Laurie Idahosa Apologize To Pete Edochie After She Said His Mother Was A Victim Of Rape

Laurie Idahosa, has apologised to Pete Edochie after she said that the veteran actor’s mother was a victim of rape and a child bride.

In an interview, Pete said his father married his 15 year old mum at the age of 40 years old during their generations s that she was very shy.

Pete said;

”“My mother was not educated. She was not in love with my father. My father was almost 40 when his uncle told him it was time he got married. He told them to get a wife for him.

My uncle went out to a neighboring village and told them the teacher wanted to get married. The women came out. He looked around and picked one and that was it.

He brought this 15-year-old who didn’t have the courage to look at my father. She gave him ten children and was still shy. Seven boys and three girls”.

Reacting to the interview, Mrs Idahosa, the pastor said that Pete’s mother was a product of rape, said that Pete’s mother was afraid of her life.

” How can he laugh about her being “shy?”
Oga, she was not shy. She was a victim of rape and was a child bride. She wasn’t respectful of his age, she was afraid for her life. Know the difference and adjust this story… start telling the truth!”

Meanwhile, the Clergywoman has now apologised for her comment following the backslash he received on her Instagram comment section.

The truth is, in Pete's part of Ibo women are normally expected to start having suitors from the age of 15 especially the beautiful ones and the ones that have a good family background even up till now. Some can get married at that age although these days they're allowed to finish secondary education eventually before moving in with the man. It's kinda customary to be married by the age of 20 over there so it's not seen as a child  or forced marriage cos most women from that part are mentally prepared for it as a normal process of growth and maturity but then I understand Laurie's concern cos 40 yr old marrying a 15 yr old is not really funny tbh but it was the norm then and still is now unfortunately.
