The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, says he is under enormous pressure from Nigerians to run for president in 2023.

He said that the pressure was majorly from the youths, women and “very objective elites”.

Bello stated this while appearing as a guest on Channels Television‘s “Politics Today” show on Friday.

“Nigerians – the youths, and women and all Nigerians, including very objective elites – are asking me to run for president in 2023.

“And I believe it is high time that we looked into capacity, who can do the job, who is going to unify this country.

“I think that they are seeing something in me, and that is why they are asking me to come and unite and fix this country.

“My answer will be in the affirmative in a few time from now,” the Kogi governor said.

He urged those urging him run to exercise patience, saying he would not disappoint them when it was time to formally declare his ambition.

Bello said he appreciated the 17 Southern governors for calling for the restructuring of the Nigerian federation.

“Mr President has heeded to it severally; he has granted the autonomy of the judiciary, granted the autonomy of the legislature and granted the autonomy of the local government by going ahead to sign all the executive orders,” he said.

On the call for national dialogue, he said that each state has representatives elected in both chambers of the National Assembly.

He said it was not enough for President Muhammadu Buhari to call for another national conference when reports of recommendations from previous ones convoked have not been implemented.

Height of self-delusion; fuelled by acolytes and hangers-on. You will NOT govern NGR. NGR neither needs nor want a polygamous leader whose wives and concubines will use the nation's monies to do shopping in Dubai.
