Breeding of goats can involve different breeding strategies. Each of these is going to have different consequences for the herd, and wise producers will pick a strategy that fits their own philosophies and goals. No single strategy fits all situations, but each strategy is a wise choice for certain goals and production systems.

A cardinal rule of selective breeding is that two goats with the same fault should never be mated. For instance, if both buck & doe have narrow chests, chances are very remote that their kids will have wider chests than the parents. Instead, the trait of narrow chests will be fixed in your kids and be harder to improve in future breeding.

If a doe has a narrow chest, her mate should be a wide-chested broad buck. This example applies to all parts of the goat ie. head, legs, length, rump etc.

For high quality pure kalahari red and boer  goats,

Always breed does to bucks that are correct in the traits you want to improve in the offspring. For instance, if you have a doe with a very steep rump, don't breed her to a buck with a very level rump; breed her to a buck with a very correct rump. This is why choosing your goats very carefully when purchasing is of vital importance.
