Kogi prince, Malik Ado-Ibrahim has called out politicians pictured celebrating at a wedding while the burial of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 military officers was ongoing on Saturday.

Lt General Attahiru and 10 other military officers had died in an air crash on Friday while on their way to an official assignment in Kaduna.

The dead soldiers were buried on Saturday in Abuja at the military cemetery.

It was reported that Buhari and Osinbajo were conspicuously absent at the burial of the late COAS and other officers.

Many other politicians were absent at the funeral but graced the wedding fatiha of Habibur Abubakar Malami, son of Justice and Attorney-General, in Kano which held the same day.

The Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, the Governors of Sokoto, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara and Gombe States, as well as other Senators, were among the high profile politicians who graced the wedding.

But Prince Ado-Ibrahim who condemned their alleged disrespect to the dead soldiers in a post on his Instagram account called out the political leaders for not attending the burial of the military officers but chose to attend a wedding and merry.

His post read,
Quote
“Optics count in Politics and leadership. We see Misplaced priorities of those that were chosen as leaders at a time of war and a pandemic.

“They prefer a show of power and pleasure over patriotism and prayer on this day.

“The nation is watching. The people will have the last laugh. While the Nation is in shock at yesterday’s horrible deaths of our brave military men and while we are praying for our fallen heroes, some allowed themselves to be pictured as they were celebrating, he wrote.

“Where did we go wrong. We need to Reset Nigeria. God bless Nigeria,” he wrote.

Malik should direct his displeasure to Buhari.  If a President and his VP is absent in the burial of the most important personality in the Army - COAS, what do you expect others to do? In Banana Republic,  anything happens, the leaders have lost all moral decency and decorum...therefore,  support the disintegration of Nigeria to enable your region to build a prosperous and progressive nation.

So much had been said of the President not being present at the burial of the decreased military men. While the sentiments are appreciated, it must be said that the Occasion was a purely military affair, and by Protocol, the Minister of Defence should be the Chief Mourner.

No, the president should be the chief mourner because he is the commander in chief of all the armed forces. People can give whatever reason or excuse for his absence, but there is nothing right in him being absent at the burial of top military men that lost their lives in the line of duty.
