Delta Police Gun Down Suspected Armed Robber During Exchange Of Fire Recover Pistol

Policemen from Ovwian/Aladja Divisional Headquarters have gunned down a suspected armed robber while two others escaped during an exchange of fire.

The incident occurred at Old Ekete road in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Police also recovered one locally-made pistol and two cartridges from the deceased suspect.

The deceased suspect and two others were allegedly robbing passersby when the Police stormed the scene.

Police parades 34 suspects, recovers weapons in Cross River

On sighting the Police patrol vehicle, the suspect and others engaged the Police in an exchange of gunfire.

One died as a result, while the other two escaped.

The Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

CP Ali said, “Effort to arrest the fleeing gang members is ongoing.”

CP Ali hailed the officers and men of the command, tactical commands, DPOs for their gallantry in the fight against crime.

He mandated them to not only maintain this tempo but to also ensure that it is sustained so that criminals will know that Delta State is not safe for them while also appreciating members of the public who has been in one way or the other helpful to the police by providing timely and useful information,

He asked the public to continue to volunteer intelligence, assuring that their identities will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
