In the 15th century there were
persecutions of Muslims by Christians
and Christians by Muslims (Anthony
Reid, Michael Gilsenan; 2007, Islamic
legitimacy in a plural Asia).
We are in a modern age where the
respect for human rights has been
ratified by most countries. Article 19 of
the UN declaration of human rights
states thus: “Everyone has the right to
freedom of opinion and expression; this
right includes freedom to hold opinions
without interference and to seek,
receive and impart information and
ideas through any media and regardless
of frontiers ” (http://www.un.org/en/
documents/udhr/).
From the foregoing, it should be
expected that all religions in the world
should be given the right to practice
their religion, but is that the case? Hard
evidence proofs otherwise with respect
to Christians in Islamic countries. This is
a matter that has been swept under the
carpet for too long. It is high time
something is done to check this
dangerous trend. Muslims all over the
world are given the right to build
Mosques, proselytize. Do Muslims preach
to others about their faith? Yes they do!
They are actually commanded in the
Quran to “invite (all) to the way of thy
lord with wisdom” (Sura 16:25).
In most countries Muslims are free to
worship. There are an estimated 5
Million Muslims in USA. All over Europe
there are Mosques and Muslims are
allowed to worship and propagate their
religious beliefs. This is mostly done
using the Internet, Radio and
Television.  Examples of Islamic TV
stations in Europe include, MTA Muslim
TV, MTA 2, Islam Channel, Noor TV, Peace
TV Urdu, IQRA TV UK, Hidayat TV,
Ahlebait TV, Muhammadiya TV/Napoleon
TV/Al Hira TV/Nasheed TV to name a
few. In the USA the list is endless.
One should expect that Christians in
Muslims nations should equally be able
to practice their religion unhindered. It
is highly incongruous that Christians are
not allowed to operate churches in
Saudi Arabia. In Islamic countries where
there are churches Christians are easy
targets. In Saudi Arabia “public and
private non-Muslim religious worship is
banned ... and there are no public places
of worship for non-Muslims ” (Kevin
Boyle, Juliet Sheen; 1997. Freedom of
religion and belief: a world report). The
media is highly controlled by the
government.  Internet Filtering Systems
filter off Christian websites. Christian TV
and radio stations are banned. At the
airport bibles are shredded to pieces if
discovered ( http://www.cnsnews.com/
news/article/16594). Only diplomats
with diplomatic immunity are exempted
from this unfortunate development.
Even Muslim converts to Christianity are
not spared. For example, in Afghanistan
people who convert to Christianity are
killed under Afghan law   ( http://
/President+Hamid
+Karzai/articles/GoJPe3XbLiN/Afghan... ).
The persecution of Christians in 90% of
Islamic nations is very unfortunate. This
is a contravention of the UN declaration
of human rights.
If Muslims are allowed to worship, own
media/proselytize in every nation on
earth, why then are Christians
persecuted in Islamic nations?  I will not
go further to talk about instances
because they are so numerous to
mention.
One can only imagine what the world
will be like if there were Christian
terrorists, sponsored by Christian
governments. What if a Christian
terrorist organization targets planes full
of Muslims? What if radical Christians get
hold of ballistics missiles and launch an
attack during the pilgrimage to Mecca?
What if innocent Muslim children are
bombed and maimed in this process?
A terrorist is a terrorist whether
Christian or Muslim. The seemly
complacency by Muslims nations in
prosecuting cases of attack against
Christians only point to one fact-the
world is only being deceived.
Until all Islamic nations allow Christians
and other religions the fundamental
right to worship and proselytize, there
is no United Nations. If this right is not
granted, there is the likelihood that the
peace sort by the UN will be destroyed.
Everyone is entitled to worship
whatever he or she believes in be it
stone, wood, water or sun. Anything
short of this is evil and that evil should
be confronted head on.
