The Nigerian government has reacted to the coup d’etat, which was carried out on Sunday in the Republic of Guinea.

A video that has gone viral online, indicated that soldiers took over the country by suspending the current constitution and reportedly detaining President Alpha Conde.

In reaction, the Federal Government in a statement issued by Esther Sunsuwa, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the move by the military, saying it violates ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.

The Nigerian government is saddened by the apparent coup d’etat that has taken place in the Republic of Guinea today, in clear violation of the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.

“The Government of Nigeria strongly condemns and rejects any unconstitutional change of government and therefore calls on those behind the coup to restore constitutional order without delay and protect lives and property,” the statement read.

Nonsense, you  go first  and clear the Boko insurgents. The army is there to protect the constitution and the people. You failed to condemn Conde when he changed the constitution against the will of the people. Had Nigeria intervened to thwart conde's effort of usurpation,  things could have been different to now.

Buhari's government had the cheek and audacity to condemn Coup De tat I'm Guinea.
Someone should tell Buhari he's lucky coup contradict ECOWAS and floral resolution for democratic system of government.

He'll have been deposed as well. He's long over due to be toppled as he's able to stay on power for this long because coup is no longer in fashion.

If I knew the plan to topple him out of power, I'll be part of it and contribute to funding it.
