
Gunmen at the weekend killed a man, abducted his wife, driver and three others on Owaza Road in the Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State. The victim, Mr. Azunwa Ngolo, was said to be a director of Economic Planning in the Ministry of Women Affairs in the state.
Sources said while the gunmen killed Mr. Ngolo, his wife and their driver, whose name was not available at press time, were taken away. The victims were said to be coming back from a burial ceremony at Umukelebulu village in the Omuma council area of the state.
The gunmen fired several shots to scare away the people of the community as they fled with their victims. It was also gathered that three other persons namely: Emmanuel Endurance, Paul Ubani and another known as Daniel were abducted at the same Owaza area while returning back to Port Harcourt.
In a separate incident, a senior staff of the Homan Engineering Limited, Mr. Godson Iroegbu was kidnapped on the outskirts of the state capital.
When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Dr. Rita Inoma Abbey (SP) said the police had swung into action to secure the release of the victims.
She urged the public to help the police by supplying information that could lead to their release.
