An Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos has sentenced a security man, John Augustine, 36, to one-year imprisonment for stealing an Apple iPad valued at N1,000,000.
He also stole three pieces of umbrellas valued at N9,000 belonging to his employer, Investment One Financial Services Limited.
The convict was jailed by Magistrate Idowu after he pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing preferred against him by the Police at the Bar Beach Division and the facts of the case presented before the Court by the Police’s counsel, Reuben Solomon.
Police Counsel, Solomon had informed the court that the convict committed the offence on 18 December, 2021 with his accomplice, Yakubu Paui, a security man also facing trial for the same offence at Investment One Financial Services Limited located at 37, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos
Solomon told the court that the convict connived with his partner to steal one Apple iPad valued at N1,000,000 and three pieces of umbrellas valued at N9,000, amounting to N1.09m from their employer’s warehouse they were employed to guard at midnight unknown to them that CCTV cameras had captured them.
He said the offences the convict committed were punishable under sessions 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Convict pleaded guilty to the one-count charge and Magistrate Idowu subsequently sentenced him to one-year imprisonment without an option of a fine.
