Sad news from Kumasi in the Ashanti region reports the unfortunate murder of a male undergraduate student today by a friend.

According to the Voice of KNUST on Instagram, the victim of this gruesome murder is a second-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Emmanuel Boateng, a tailor apprentice in Kumasi, has been identified as the alleged killer.

The victim of this bizarre incident was also a 25-year-old biological sciences student who owed Emmanuel Boateng 300 cedis.

Emmanuel Boateng lured the deceased to a location in anticipation of receiving payment for the 300 cedis debt.

The suspect, Emmanuel Boateng, has confessed to the crime and is currently in the custody of the regional police command.

According to information supplied by KNUST’s statement through the police, the victim was a friend of the suspect.

DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the public relations officer for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, confirmed that the suspect killed his friend.

The DSP said, “the suspect lured the deceased to a nearby [location] and killed him. According to the suspect, he owed the deceased an amount of GH¢300 and couldn’t pay up when he (the deceased) came asking, for which reason he killed him.”

“We find the story a little hard to believe because why will he resort to taking his friend’s life over GH¢300. We suspect there is more and are going to ensure we get the full details.”
