A brief history
Bingo first appeared in the 16th century when Italy launched its National Lottery scheme and the game has been used as an educational tool since the 1800s. The aim is to match the numbers on your card with the numbers that are called out - first getting one line, then getting two lines, and finally matching every number on the grid. The most common type of bingo game is 90-ball bingo, which includes 90 balls and cards that have the traditional 9x3 grid. Typically played in Europe, the UK, and Australia, the large number of balls and numbers on the cards is said to make this the most difficult bingo game. However, it’s also said to be the most profitable.
Unlike 90-ball bingo, which is available online and in physical bingo halls, 80-ball bingo is usually only played online and includes 80 numbers and a 4x4 grid. 75-ball bingo, which again is played on and offline, features 75 balls and a 5x5 grid - but players can match numbers in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line. This type of game is most commonly played in America. Finally, 30-ball bingo is the most common type of online bingo and is also called speed bingo. Here, players must mark off all numbers on their 3x3 grid and there are only 30 balls in the total game.
While these are the most popular bingo game types at the moment, as technology advances and demand grows, it will only be a matter of time before new titles are released.
