According to eye witnesses, the accident, which involved the deceased bus, an articulated vehicle and another bus, occurred at about 7:00 a.m as the driver of the Mazda bus was trying to overtake the articulated vehicle with registration number XE 465 AAA.
The articulated vehicle, which was bearing a container, apparently not properly fastened to its body, was said to have run into a pothole, lost balance and fallen on its side, crushing the Mazda bus in the process.
The other bus involved in the accident was said to be crossing to the other side of the road when it ran into the scene but was fortunate to escape with minor damage.
Saturday Tribune gathered that the dead driver had just dropped his wife and son at some point along the road few minutes before the incident.
Some eyewitnesses and sympathisers, who spoke with Saturday Tribune, blamed the accident on the state of the road and impatience on the part of the driver.
The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Egbeda Unit Commander, Assistant Corps Commander Abiodun Akinlade, who confirmed the incident, said it involved a truck carrying a container and a commercial bus.
He said that the truck, which was coming from Lagos, was heading towards Ojoo when the container fell and killed the only occupant inside the bus.
