Bolanle Raheem, a lawyer in Lagos, was reportedly shot & k*lled yesterday by PoliceNG personnel on her way from ChristmasDay2022 worship in Ajah, Lagos.

The ugly incident took place at Ajah Under Bridge, Lagos state this morning while the deceased was on her way back from Christmas church service.

A member of Lagos branch and a lawyer working with the deceased revealed that some policemen moved the body after the incident and her family is asking the Bar for assistance “before the police changes the narrative”.

The message reads
Quote
“I am Barr. Yvonne a member of the NBA Lagos Branch, Sir I tried reaching out to you but I guess you are busy.

“My boss Barr Omobolanle Raheem was shot dead today, by a POLICE OFFICER on her way back from Xmas service at Ajah under bridge. Her family just called me now, that they need a lawyer to stand in for them before the police changes the narrative. They have taken the matter to Ajiwe Police Station.

“The police officer is from Ajiwe station. Her husband was the one driving, Barr. Omobolanle was seated in the front with her husband.

“The officer asked them to park and they needed the vehicle in front to move so they can park well, and immediately the police officer shot at a close range right into her chest. On seeing what happened, the remaining police officers on duty there absconded.

“After a while, some police men came and moved her body to the mortuary in Yaba, without obtaining any consent from her family members. Currently her family has located where they moved her body to.
“I am currently not in Lagos , I thought of bringing this to you for your assistance and guidance ma. Thank you.”

RIP. BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT SHE WAS SHOT DEAD BY POLICE IMMEDIATELY AFTER SHE WAS TOLD TO PARK HER CAR. HOW COULD THAT INSTRUCTION LEAD TO DEATH WHEN IT IS SAID THAT SHE WAS MAKING ATTEMPTS TO PARK THE CAR?. THE PROBLEMS WITH NIGERIANS IS THAT MOST OF THEM FOOLISHLY ARGUE WITH THE POLICE AND NOBODY SEEMS TO MENTION THAT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NOT ADVISABLE TO ARGUE WITH POLICE ESPECIALLY IN NIGERIA. IT DOES NOT WORTH IT

Argument with a police officer and unarmed should never lead to a shoot-out. Nigeria Police are trigger happy individuals that pray on soft targets. I wonder why the NPF failed to send this kind of police to go after Boko Haram terrorist to curb violent crimes  Angry

It’s okay to ask police questions but follow instructions as well. That’s how is done the world over but Nigeria where asking questions can lead to shooting dead. So sad!!

Well, this what I've been saying in investing in adequate training since. These officers clearly demonstrate again-and-again that they devoid of professionalism. Mix that with a gun-carrying idiot - and you have yourself a fatal situation.

You say make the woman park, she dey park - no immediate threat to your life/public, you open fire, shoot am. How e even make sense??
Again - yeye GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!! -  I said it - BITE ME!
