Popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has come out to give reasons why he described the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi as an opportunist.

Recall that the singer recently engaged in a social media row with Peter Okoye, one of the members of the Psquare duo.

Okoye was angered by Kuti’s denigratory comment about Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.

In an Arise TV interview, Kuti restated what he said, adding that Obi simply saw an opportunity and took it.

He said Peter Obi would have a “hostile” government to contend with even if he wins the 2023 election.

“From day one, people were angry because I said he was an opportunist but in the right form of the word that’s what happened, he saw an opportunity and he took it,” Kuti said.

Kuti, while speaking further on Peter Obi, said opportunism works only in business and not in politics.

“In business life, opportunism is awesome. If you’re doing business, you see an opportunity you nail it,” he said.

“But in politics, opportunism must be found if you want to move forward.

“We’ve done this whole change business that doesn’t have any substance to it.

“When we Nigerian people are serious and we want to do business we will do the business and we’ll do it by ourselves.

At your age your father Fela had become an icon. Leave Peter Obi alone and  stop wallowing in envy. Yesterday it was Wizkid when he won Grammy and today Peter Obi. No hit song to your credit don't forget.

Go school, u no gree, u say na to smoke Igbo u wan do. Now you cant even understand what you are saying. Between Peter Obi and Labour Party, who as at that time was the opportunity? While in PDP, Young Nigerians from all tribes and all works of life marched for Peter Obi to force the hands of the PDP chieftains to pick Obi instead of their normal dollar democracy, but the greedy members of the old order found Atiku and Wike's dollars too tempting to refuse. As at that time, Obi was already the man of the people, the man of the moment and infact, the most popular African politician. So tell me again, between him and LP, who was the opportunity? LP that I never knew was a political party, I am sure that most of us here didn't know much about them until Obi happened to them. The only thing they had was that platform as a registered Political Party. Obi brought the rest.
Finally, Seun insulted Peter Obi, Peter Obi in his normal character didn't respond. One of his supporters responded and even moved on a day after. Its now almost a week and the person that insulted someone is still the same person talking about the issue. So who is the opportunist? Seun just wants to use the name of Peter Obi to resurrect his dead career. Na fools still dey listen to am. Ultimate opportunist.
