A truck driver has been arraigned by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing three persons in an accident in honeypotro, Abeokuta, the State capital.

The man, Olatoyosi Abiodun, was arraigned on Friday at Isabo Magistrate court.

The truck driver had crashed into a residential house and killed three of the occupants of the building.

Immediately after the incident, Abiodun ran away from the scene, but he was later arrested and charged to court on a six-count charge, including dangerous driving, causing the death of three persons, causing damage to three other vehicles and others.

According to the police, the driver, who drove a Mack tanker trailer with registration number, Lagos T 1532 LA, had on March 4, 2023, “lost control of the truck and ran into a dwelling house after crushing three other vehicles and subsequently caused the death of three occupants of the house.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the driver was later traced to Ibadan, where he was arrested on March 27 and charged to court.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, has warned drivers to always ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy before putting them on the road.
