The Nigerian Army has raised alarm, saying members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are planning to ambush and attack security operatives, especially soldiers and officers in the South-East region. The military warned its men to watch their movements outside the barracks.

In a memo released recently, which was obtained by journalists, the Nigerian Army warned its men also to watch their language in public and avoid making any inflammatory remarks that could escalate tensions. The memo reads: “I am directed to inform All Officers and Men of the Command of a planned attack by an aggrieved group (IPOB) on security agencies in the South East. Intelligence revealed that the aggrieved group claimed that several of their members were killed in Abia on 31st March 2023.

“To ensure the safety and security of our formation and officers, it is advisable to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. “It is also essential to watch your language in public spaces and avoid making any inflammatory remarks that could escalate tensions.”

It urged the commanders to follow the instructions given in the message, including remaining vigilant, carrying their rifles while on guard duty, and refraining from wearing their uniform outside of the office premises/ barracks.

“Please follow the instructions given to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. Thank you for your continued dedication,” the statement added.

Herdsmen are attacking and killing people in Benue right now; and all the Nigerian army has to do is to raise an alarm that IPOB is planning to attack them (the Nigerian army)!

You see this country, this country, and all these wars against Igbos, They will give rise to something that will forever earn great respect for Igbos by sane world. What is their alarm for? Is someone planning a set-up against Obidients? Is someone planning something sinister in order to give these national-progress-detribalized Igbos a bad name?

Too bad for anyone to come fighting Igbos because of the current political situation of Nigeria. Igbos did not vote tribe, they voted competence, fairness and equity. They voted for the progress of a country that they love, a country in which they do business in without attaching tribal sentiments in their movements or settlements.

IPOB has always been peaceful. No arms, just civil agitations regardless of provocations and accusations... Anyway...I believe so much in God of Justice.

My heart bleeds for people in the middle belt and southern kaduna. Army that cannot enter sambisa forest. War against Boko Haram is dragging to almost 20 years and you tell me you have an army. Army that is begging Boko Haram terrorists to please surrender.
