Some of the victims, it was gathered, included students of the University of Agriculture , Abeokuta (UNAAB), market women and children.

The two buses it was learnt skidded off the road after a head -on collision, landed on the side of the road where there was a bush fire This caused the two buses to go up in flames with their occupants. The charred bodies of the victims littered the scene, while rescuers had a hectic time trying to help some of the survivors who included a three-year-old boy. Sympathizers who were at the scene of the accident wept profusely condemning those who set the bush on fire.
Men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), and State Fire Service were seen at the scene of the accident battling to retrieve the burnt bodies from the wreckage of the buses.
