Destiny Etiko, the popular Nollywood actress and producer, has sent a message to her colleagues.

She took to social media to urge her colleagues in the Yoruba film industry and their fans to speak English when addressing the general public.

The actress, who is of Igbo origin, made the statement in a video circulating social media about many of her colleagues who only use their local tongue for conversation, leading to substantial communication barriers.

Destiny Etiko cited the same issue when following up on comments and threads of Yoruba speakers who would rather communicate in their dialect than carry everyone along.

She appealed to them to learn how to communicate successfully in either English or use pidgin so everyone could understand.

“I just don’t know why whenever you are speaking to Yoruba people, they will always want to speak Yoruba. Ehhhhh I don’t understand even on blogs. You all will be speaking Yoruba like everyone is Yoruba. You guys should try and speak English or broken,” she said.

Watch her speak below:

There are few sensible Yoruba people that don't do that shit. Igbo's are civilized and considerate. They know when to speak their language and when to use English. You cant be speaking to the entire Nigeria in your dialect, That is both disrespectful and stupid.

So true! They're so rudely obsessed with their language and tradition. I remember how some few yorubas I had as friends few years ago was always speaking yoruba to me cos according to them that would help me learn the language like why do I have to learn yoruba?  Roll Eyes
