Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson to Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has stated why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should release the embattled former Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.

Bwala, through his official Twitter handle on Sunday, said Bawa should be released because he did not topple any government.

The Department of State Security detained Bawa in June after Tinubu’s government suspended him.

Bwala believes that Bawa’s offence does not warrant him to stay in detention for long.

He decried that pattern of arresting and humiliating anti-graft bosses.
He wrote, “I appeal to Mr President to intervene in the case involving Abdulrasheed Bwala, the EFCC Chair.

“Whatever he is being investigated, I believe non (sic) involves an attempt to overthrow the government. This pattern of arresting, detaining and humiliating Anti-graft bosses whilst the suspects become ministers and lawmakers will eventually kill the very institution of the EFCC.”
