Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has unveiled his plans for the people of the state, saying the April election will offer them the opportunity to change what he called “government of perfidy, brigandage and mediocrity that has stalled the state’s growth.”

Ajimobi, who spoke with journalists in Ibadan for the first time after his nomination was ratified by the party last Friday declared that the problem of the state was not a “personality problem, but ability problem, accusing those currently at the helms of affairs of: lacking the managerial skills and acumen to take it to greater heights.
He identified the inefficiency of the present regime as the main reason why the state was no longer setting the pace in development in the country.

His words: “You don’t give what you don’t have. Lagos is setting the pace now, because we have a competent, visionary and progressive governor there. Oyo State which used to, is regressing, because of the inability and ineffectiveness of the people running it.”

Unfolding his plans for the people of the state, the ACN governorship standard bearer promised that once inaugurated as the next governor, he would within the shortest period of time create a minimum of 20, 000 jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
He also promised to make free health, qualitative education, integrated rural development and environmental sanitation a priority. He also pledged to resuscitating the abandoned farm settlements in the state, saying with Oyo’s agricultural resources, “We should be the food basket of the the South-west axis up to Lagos ”.

Ajimobi appealed to other aspirants who contested for the party’s ticket with him to support him in the party’s quest to form the next government in the state.
He said he was ready to form a government of rainbow coalition that would bring all of them on board.
Describing his emergence as a case of no victor, no vanquished, the candidate said all his co-contestants were eminently qualified for the ticket but that a winner must emerge.

According to him, what should be paramount in the minds of all now was how to rescue the state from “the government of perfidy and brigandage.”
On the ongoing voters’ registration, he called on residents of the state not to be discouraged by the initial hitches being witnessed but ensure that they were registered to enable them participate in the April polls.

He promised the alleged non-performance of the present government would contribute to his (Ajimobi’s) victory in the coming election.
While faulting the claim that he was favoured for the party’s ticket because he is an Ibadan man, Ajimobi said nobody was against the Governor coming from any part of the state but that the people of the state demanded and deserved the best man for the job.
“We are not saying that somebody from Ogbomoso cannot run but what we are saying is that that person they are presenting should be the best man,” he explained.
He urged the people of the state to protect their votes in the coming elections.
