what is it with witches again (Page 4)

At a time when the slave traders who brought us their religion and reinforced our superstitious beliefs have moved on to another technological advanced era, we are still taking ourselves back to the medieval stone ages of mass delusion. This is how hundreds of children have been rendered handicapped by their parents on accusations of witchcraft whereby the concerned parties proceed to chop off either the hands or legs of the accused victims in that part of the country.

The way people believe these things makes me wonder if they even use their brains at all. Do they ask themselves if these so called "witches" are the cause of instability in Nigeria? Are they the cause of corruption, looting, embezzlement, arm robbery, zero insecurity, bad roads, little or no electricity, unpaid salaries, no justice, no social security, no health care, no welfare for the elderly and the list is endless. Are they the cause of these problems?

This reminds me of some episodes i witnessed many years ago as a teenager. In two "miracle working" churches my parents attended then, the "men of god" arrested women who claimed to be queen of the coast. They all claimed to be the ones causing all the problems in Nigeria (what a laugh. . .lol).They claimed to cause problems in peoples lives, accidents on the road, bla bla bla. Few years after that, i read a published book from the then popular Church of god mission pioneered by Rev Idahosa. The book also talked about another woman who got "delivered" and she claimed to be the queen of the coast and did all the things the previous women had claimed to have done. At that tender age, i now wondered : How many "queen of the coasts do we have in Nigeria"? If they have caught these "queen of the coasts", how come the problems they claim to have caused still remain? When will we grow up in this country and transcend beyond all this madness?

Shallow minded human beings will always seek a scape goat to blame for all their problems. The idiot who spends all his time in a beer parlor will accuse his mother as being the cause of his failure in life. The unmarried spinster who's always clubbing with her friends,sleeps with every tom,dick and harry on street,turns down offers from "nice guys" and feels she's above water will always blame her "wizard uncle" in the village for being the cause of her not being married. Someone must be blamed for all their failures in life. If they are not successful, it must be someone "doing things" to affect them.

No wonder we remain backward! ! !

read in tuilding in calabar the papers yesterday that a 17year old girl confessed to being a witch,she crashlanded on top of a building around 3am,the dumbfounded occupants woke up by 5am when they noticed strange sounds on the rooftop,apparently she could'nt take off due to lack of fuel or logistics,lol trust naija she was definately given the worst beating of her life enough to exorcise the witch craft
