The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) on Wednesday ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission is at liberty to determine its mode of transmission of results. According to the PEPT, INEC regulations and the Electoral Act gave room for manual collation of results. It said electronic transmission is optional at best.

The court added that the only device that must be used by INEC for elections is the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) It noted that there’s no regulation showing BVAS must be used to electronically transmit results from polling units.

On the issue of substantial non-compliance with the provisions of the law, especially with regard to non-transmission of result sheets to INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), the court held that there is no law that says INEC must transfer or transmit the results of the election from the polling units electronically. The law simply empowers INEC to decide the means of collation of results of elections, the court argued.

To all shallow and very limited thinkers, this matter has never been about Peter Obi and his parry, but  for the integrity of our electoral system that will ensure the quality  of politics  for  tomorrow. Unfortunately, our judges whose salaries and emoluments  were already  increased during the trials ( bribery  by  Tinubu- the  first  after  the  law makers salary hikes ) couldn't see the law  without their bifocal glasses neither beyond the pale glow of judicial obfuscation and  the sustained judicial malfeasance that continue to intimidate Africans developmental goals. The JUDICIARY  is African's bane in good governance , public corruption and inequality . Africa is  probably the only continent where an accused will lobby for  immediate court referrals hence the nature of  our disgraceful judicial branch of governance. In short, except  Kenya  Malawi, the rest of Africa judiciary is moronic, uneducated, morally illiterate and socially bankrupt.. Regardless of who  leads the  nations on the continent of Africa,  nothing progressive is obtainable  until the judiciary start  to be  the beacon of hope of impartial and timely  adjudications in our courts.
