"The truth is that there was never a formal agreement between myself, West Ham, and Manchester United, so it wasn't simply a matter of me accepting the opportunity and going.

"The opportunity never presented itself because we didn't progress far enough in the negotiations.
"West Ham is a fantastic club, but my primary focus remains on Manchester United. I am determined to fight for my position, although playing time is undeniably important to me.
Sam Allardyce is scheduled to meet with Leeds on Thursday to discuss his future with the club.
