Kannywood actor and comedian, Saeed Muhammed, popularly known as Funky Mallam has criticised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu,l of Lagos State for ordering his police escorts to arrest a “soldier” over a traffic violation.

Sanwo-Olu had ordered the arrests of motorcyclists riding against traffic on the Lagos-Badagry expressway on Tuesday.

When one of the offenders claimed to be a soldier, the governor said, “get in there. Useless boy. You are telling me you are a soldier. Lock him up!!”

On Wednesday, a soldier berated Sanwo-Olu for the arrest of his “colleague”, claiming that they have a right to drive against traffic.

Another soldier also rebuked the governor, saying he would have dealt with him if he were one he disgraced.

“‘Who the f*ck are you?’ You think say na me you go jam that day, you are calling me useless? I will useless you there,” he said in a viral video shared on Instagram.

In the comment section of the post, Funky Mallam called out the state government for allegedly violating its law, specifically regarding the use of sirens.

The Kannywood star said Sanwo-Olu should have reported the soldier to his superior rather than “disgrace him by involving the police”.

“The blunt fact is that the government would have cautioned the soldier and not asked police to arrest him,” Funky Mallam wrote.

“Most laws are broken by the same government. Using siren in most cases is against the law but they still flaunt it with impunity.

“One way wey danfo drivers dey ply like their father’s road. The governor would have reported the soldier to his superior to penalise him.

“These soldiers are pained because baba disgrace the guy by asking police to arrest him.”

The funky whatever he calls himself, and the other scared little missies hiding and talking, y'all are yarning trash!! Yes trash! In fact Sanwo should have ordered the police to bulala that sorry ass soldier who is a disgrace to the uniform! Idiots are constituting nuisance and you are here supporting rubbish. If they are soldiers with so much muscles, boko haram, killer bandits and unknown gunmen are terrorising the people they should go fight them.

But the  Governor and his caboodle violate the laws everyday . And that was the wrong way to apply the law. Issue  traffic ticket to the soldier and  further challenge him in courts over the violation, but arresting him on the spot was illogical and irresponsible. That act  was an arrestable offence, rather  one could be summon but not arrested on spot.

Sir, driving against traffic is one of the worst traffic offences one can commit. People have died because some other road users decided to drive against traffic. Trust me, anyone who has lost a loved one due to a crazy traffic offender will commend the governor for what he did. Should we now leave everyone else to be lawless just because "the governor and his caboodle violate the law everyday"?? No I don't think so. A soldier should help uphold the law, not violate it.

Thanks ,but public corruption should be of high treason - the highest of all crimes . Hundreds of thousands die every year as a result of of bad governance and its reckless misuse of public finances . Traffic offence is nit criminal

Funky Mallam has just spoken nonsense. Everyone is bound to do the right thing. A soldier is a soldier, civilian is civilian and law is law. Whoever violates the law should face the penalty attached. That is the only way to keep our lovely country forward

Funky Mallam, Foolish Mallam or whatsoever.  You're chatting gibberish. The offence is totally outrageous.  No one should be above the law.
All the agencies of the armed forces are supposed to be law abiding not law breaker.
The governor employed the job of the law enforcement agencies to arrest them.
Then, why are your talking nonsense? Who should the governor called to arrest these bunch of law breakers, a pilot?
We all could smell an undertone to your criticism of the governor.  I'm sure you're thinking there is tendency the arrested soldiers are of Hausa origin. You're indirectly condemning the arrest of your Aboki brothers.
Whether you like it or not. They'll be made to face full wrath of the law. If you like go to Daura and wake Buhari up from his sleep about it.
What do you expect from the governor.  To allow them continue floating the traffic law. Then call the Civil Defence to come and chase them after they've left? What nonsense!!

Are we discussing the crimes of the governor here or those of the people driving against traffic?? Of course if the governor is a criminal he should be made to face the wrath of the law by the necessary authority...but that shouldn't stop us from punishing another set of criminals...yes, according to the law, driving against traffic is a crime and so whoever does it is a criminal.
