The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of a suspected kidnapper and gunrunner, Ekenaye Festus, along with four collaborators in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The arrest was made around Agbor Road, Iguomor Community.
Those apprehended alongside Festus are Isaac Oghosa, Ameh Innocent, Odion Okpako, and Ajayi Ayoola.
Capt. Chinonso Oteh, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, revealed this in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, personnel from Operation Wabaizigan, operating under the troops of 4 Brigade headquarters, conducted the operation based on credible intelligence.
Oteh stated that the suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Sunday, February 25. They were allegedly terrorizing Obagie Community and were believed to be involved in kidnappings and other criminal activities within the state.
The suspects are currently in custody, aiding investigation. Recovered items include a Hilux vehicle with registration number Lagos SMK 219 FX equipped with ember light, a handheld radio, three torchlight phones, an android phone, pairs of desert and black boots, a fragmentation jacket, a jackknife pouch, and several charms.
Brig.-Gen. Ebenezer Oduyebo, the Commander of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their dedication and urged the public to continue supporting the troops in their efforts to maintain operational efficiency and fulfill their constitutional responsibilities.
