Barrister Chris Agidy, the Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North, has tragically been killed after being kidnapped by bandits. The sad news was confirmed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, to reporters on Tuesday, February 27.
This incident follows a series of kidnappings in November 2023, during which at least 19 individuals were abducted from their homes in the Galadimawa area of the nation's capital by gunmen. Initially, the identities of the victims were unknown, and efforts to rescue them were ongoing. It was later revealed that 12 of the abductees had been killed.
Confirming the recent killing, the FCT PPRO stated that Barrister Chris Agidy was killed by one of the wanted notorious kidnappers operating in the capital city, identified as Samaila Wakili. Wakili was apprehended on February 24 in the Sardauna Forest, located in the honeypot area of Nasarawa State.
Upon his arrest, Wakili reportedly led police operatives to the location where the remains of Barrister Chris Agidy were found. The deceased's body was recovered and deposited at the Gwagwalada General Hospital.
The tragic incident underscores the ongoing security challenges posed by banditry and kidnapping in the country, highlighting the need for concerted efforts to address these issues and ensure the safety of citizens.
