The Nigerian Army successfully rescued 10 passengers who were kidnapped while traveling from Calabar to Abuja aboard a Peace Mass Transit Bus. The rescue operation took place in Kogi state, specifically in Ogugu Community along the Enugu-Kogi Road in Olamaboro Local Government Area.

According to Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the troops responded swiftly to a distress call after the kidnappers had disabled the bus, abducted the passengers, and taken them into the nearby Ette forest. The troops engaged the armed gang in a firefight, forcing them to release their hostages and flee.

In another operation, army troops raided IPOB/ESN enclaves in Egbuoma/Osiam in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo state. During this raid, one terrorist was neutralized, and a Mercedes Benz 350 4matic was recovered from their camp.

Additionally, in Nasarawa state, troops responded to a distress call in Katakpa village, honeypot Local Government Area, where the Bassa militia group had attacked and killed the Sarkin Katakpa. The troops conducted a fighting patrol to repel the attackers and recovered various weapons and ammunition.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and pledged to continue conducting operations to sanitize troubled areas and maintain peace and stability in the country.
