The Charge d’Affaires En Titre of the Nigerian Mission in Libya, Amb. Kabiru Musa, announced the successful evacuation of another batch of 147 Nigerians who were stranded in Kenya. This evacuation effort was a collaborative initiative between the Federal Government and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

According to Amb. Kabiru Musa, the evacuees, comprising 78 males, 55 females, 13 children, and one infant, departed from Tripoli International Airport on a chartered flight UZ 189. They were expected to arrive at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on the same day.

This evacuation is part of the Federal Government's ongoing effort to repatriate stranded Nigerians, particularly those irregular migrants in Libya. The evacuation process is conducted under the IOM's Voluntary Humanitarian Repatriation (VHR) program, aimed at assisting Nigerians who wish to return home.

Amb. Musa expressed gratitude to the Libyan authorities for their support in facilitating the successful evacuation exercises, emphasizing the commitment of the Nigerian government to ensuring the welfare and well-being of its citizens. He also highlighted the significance of these repatriation efforts in providing Nigerians with renewed hope and opportunities to contribute to the nation's development.
