Renowned Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda recently opened up about his decision to quit smoking weed, citing anxiety about the future as the primary reason for his lifestyle change.
In a candid discussion on the latest episode of the 'In My Opinion' podcast, the 'Cash App' hitmaker confessed that he abandoned weed consumption four years ago due to mounting apprehensions about what lay ahead.
"I don't smoke igbo [weed] anymore. I used to, but I began experiencing anxiety whenever I smoked. I started to feel scared about what the future held," Shmurda disclosed during the podcast.
While he acknowledged still smoking cigarettes, Shmurda emphasized his decision to distance himself from weed, emphasizing its adverse effects on his mental well-being.
Contrary to popular belief that marijuana enhances creativity, Shmurda revealed that it hindered rather than fueled his artistic process.
"Despite claims that smoking weed boosts creativity, it wasn't helping me in my case. I found myself experiencing anxiety whenever I indulged, and it began to affect my work in the studio. I would feel lost and disconnected, hindering rather than aiding my creativity," he elaborated.
Shmurda's revelation sheds light on the complexities of substance use within the creative industry and underscores the importance of prioritizing mental health and well-being.
As he continues his musical journey, Shmurda's decision to prioritize his mental health serves as a testament to his resilience and commitment to personal growth.
