Reno Omokri, a social commentator, has stirred controversy by suggesting that Nigeria would face an epidemic of unmarried women if the country had easier access to visa-free or visa-on-arrival arrangements with more countries. Omokri attributes this potential phenomenon to what he terms the "Industrial Money Obtainer culture" among Nigerian women, particularly those from the southern region.

Omokri specifically references the recent marriage of gospel singer Moses Bliss to a Ghanaian woman, suggesting that Ghanaian women are perceived as easier to relate to compared to many Southern Nigerian women. He implies that Nigerian women's focus on financial gain in relationships is a deterrent to potential suitors.

In his social media post, Omokri highlights the experience of Southern Nigerian men who travel within and outside Africa, claiming that encounters with women from other countries who are less focused on money quickly diminish their interest in Nigerian women. He further asserts that Nigerian men are highly sought after by women from countries like South Africa and Kenya.

Omokri concludes by advocating for a cultural reorientation among Southern Nigerian women, emphasizing the need to address what he perceives as the excessive commercialization of romance in the region.

While Omokri's comments have sparked debate, it's important to recognize that his views represent a subjective perspective and may not reflect the experiences or beliefs of all individuals. Discussions around cultural attitudes towards relationships and marriage require nuanced understanding and consideration of diverse perspectives.
