Amidst the ongoing search and rescue operation for the abducted school children in Kaduna State, military sources have confirmed that 28 of the over 200 kidnapped students have managed to escape from their captors.
Governor Uba Sani, who met with parents of the abducted children alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, disclosed this development while urging against the politicization of the abduction incident.
Vice President Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed deep empathy for the affected families and emphasized the President's commitment to ensuring the safe return of the kidnapped children. He urged the media to exercise caution in their reporting, stressing the importance of solidarity in the national effort to address the crisis.
"The situation is indeed dire," Shettima stated, "and as stakeholders in the Nigerian project, we must approach it with utmost sensitivity. Let us refrain from speculative reporting and instead focus on supporting efforts to reunite these children with their families."
Governor Sani echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the government, local communities, and security agencies in the rescue operation. He urged the media to refrain from politicizing the issue and assured that progress was being made in securing the safe return of the abducted children.
"In this critical time," Governor Sani remarked, "our priority is the safe return of these children. We are making strides in our efforts, but for security reasons, we cannot divulge operational details. Let us maintain a united front in ensuring the security and well-being of our citizens."
