In a bid to clamp down on the resurgence of thuggery and violent crimes in Kano State, the Kano State Police Command has arrested twenty-two suspected hoodlums while declaring thirty others wanted.

According to the spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ussaini Gumel, announced the establishment of the Police Anti-Daba operational base at Dorayi Karshen Waya as part of the remedial measures.

The recent upsurge in thuggery activities, particularly in Dorayi Quarters and its environs within Kano Metropolis, has raised concerns among residents and authorities. In response to this alarming trend, the police launched targeted operations to curb these unlawful activities and apprehend the perpetrators.

During the operations, twenty-two suspected thugs, locally known as "Yan Daba," were apprehended by the police. These arrests signify a significant step towards restoring peace and security in the affected community, sending a clear message that such criminal behavior will not be tolerated.

The Kano Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order in the state, assuring the public of its dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents. The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

In addition to the arrests, the CP organized a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders residing in the affected areas to garner maximum cooperation in the fight against criminal activities. It was resolved during the meeting that the Anti-Daba Unit would be established at Dorayi Quarters, Kano.

The Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to the peace-loving people of the state while urging the community to remain vigilant and cooperative in preventing and reporting criminal activities, thus contributing to the creation of a safer environment for all.
