In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended Chizoke Obiadada (54) and his son, Micheal Obiadada (17), in connection with the death of their neighbor's wife, Tope Owoade.

The incident, which occurred last Thursday in the Ogijo area of the state, reportedly stemmed from a confrontation between the suspects and the victim over the use of a table for displaying wares.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the altercation escalated into a physical altercation, during which the victim was subjected to severe beatings by the suspects.

"The unfortunate incident unfolded as a result of successive uncontrollable anger and arguments, triggered by a dispute over the usage of a worktable belonging to Tope Owoade, 43, now deceased. The victim, who utilized the table for selling 'Pomo' (edible animal skin), confronted her neighbors for sitting on the table, sparking a misunderstanding that ultimately led to her demise," the statement reads.

Isiaka Owoade, the husband of the deceased, filed a complaint with the Divisional Police Officer of Ogijo, recounting the events leading to his wife's tragic death. He revealed that upon his return from a journey on March 29, 2024, his wife informed him of the brutal assault she suffered at the hands of their neighbors the previous day.

"His late wife informed him that on the 28th of March, 2024, at about 2030hrs, their neighbors, Chizoke Obiadada and his son, Micheal Obiadada, viciously attacked her after she cautioned them against sitting on her work table. The assault left her with fatal injuries, resulting in severe bleeding from her womb and private parts," the statement continues.

Despite efforts to seek medical attention at Main Frame Private Hospital and Kunle Hospital Atan Agowa, the victim was rejected, and tragically, she passed away while being transported to a government hospital.

The arrest of the suspects underscores the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to ensuring that justice is served in cases of violence and criminality within the state.
